As Microsoft prepares to release Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016, you might be wondering if you will need to upgrade your existing MSCRM application. Before delving into the pros and cons of upgrading, it's important to know what version of MSCRM you currently have. To find out, log into MSCRM and click on About in the Settings:

About MSCRM

The version you are currently using will be displayed at the top of the About Microsoft Dynamics CRM popup dialog.

MSCRM Version

Once you know what version of MSCRM you have installed, you'll want to find out whether or not an upgrade is necessary. The first thing to consider is how much longer your current system will be supported by Microsoft. When it comes to MSCRM, there are two levels of support provided by Microsoft - Mainstream and Extended.

Support

Review the dates that Mainstream and Extended Support from Microsoft is scheduled to end.

Support Dates

*Beginning January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. If you are currently using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 and you prefer to use other browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox, you'll want to switch to IE.
